Instructions

  1. Fill a tall glass with ice.

  2. Shake the protein shake well and pour it over the ice.

  3. Pour the cold brew or espresso over the top and stir. For a frothy, latte-like drink, shake everything in a lidded jar for 15 seconds instead and pour it over fresh ice.

  4. Dust with cinnamon if you like and drink right away.

Tips for success

  • Choose a shake with about 3 g net carbs or less per bottle. Labels vary a lot, and many are sweetened with sucralose or stevia, so check before you buy.
  • Hot espresso poured straight onto a protein shake can make it curdle slightly. Let the espresso cool for a few minutes, or pour it over the ice first.
  • For a thick, frosty blended version, see the blended coffee frappé.

Nice to have, not needed

  • A lidded jar or cocktail shaker whips it into a foamy, café-style drink — stirring in the glass is fine.

Storage & meal prep

  • Keeps 1 day in the fridge
  • Doesn’t freeze well

Reheat: Serve cold over fresh ice; shake well first.

Prep tip: Keep a jar of cold brew and a few shakes in the fridge, and it takes 30 seconds to make.

Best made fresh. Mixed without ice, it keeps 1 day in a sealed jar in the fridge.
